Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself

My name is Dayo Ola but since y’all are in the private circle, we’re on a first-name basis. Yes! I’m so excited to begin this journey with you all. Dayologue has been a long time in the making lowkey, which even surprised me. Now I’m no stranger to creative writing, copywriting, and whatnot but if you told me a year ago that I would be creating a blog…I wouldn’t call you a liar (that’s rude) because it just sounds right. Writing was really my first love. It was the first medium to express myself when I couldn’t get the words out of my mouth and the only ears I trusted were my own. I found comfort in figurative language when I wrote poetry. To this day I can’t help but giggle when people say I speak in riddles because I have to admit that I sure do!

My phone is starting to run out of storage because I have notes and video diaries for days, so I’m not super new to this, I’m true to this. I can admit that I’m a real yapper but people who aren’t close to me may not know that. If TikTok comments gave out awards, trust I would be receiving one! I loveeee a good ki, and stimulating conversations. For a long time now, I’ve been trying to figure out what outlet is for me and this just feels right. That is how this blog came to fruition, to satiate my need to facilitate dialogue.

Soon I’ll formally introduce my very own series “Is it a Dub or W?” where I rank what events, experiences, and activities are a dub ( a word used by New Yorkers to describe something unsatisfactory, unappealing, or just a simple no)  or a w  (a win or something appealing and worthy of praise or just a simple yes). If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m from Brooklyn. And don’t say anything about a baconeggandcheese *rolls eyes* because I’m a sausage, egg, and cheese type of gal. I’ll also share my monthly standouts and what I’m into or not into as of late. This wouldn’t be THE private circle if I didn’t share a LITTLE bit of my business, so we’ll also be getting into some of that.

We are officially in what the corporate girlies call Q4. I’m in a season of change right now as I’m in the middle of lots of new beginnings (like this blog for example) and it all feels a bit sudden however, I feel so much gratitude.

My song of the week is “Still Into You” by Paramore.

“I should be over all the butterflies

But I’m into you

And, baby, even on our worst nights

I’m into you

Let ’em wonder how we got this far

‘Cause I don’t really need to wonder at all

Yeah, after all this time

I’m still into you.

Well, some things just, some things just make sense

And one of those is you and I

Some things just, some things just make

sense

And even after all this time

I’m into you”

It really describes the relationship I have with writing. When I think of certain songs I don’t think of an ex or someone else, I usually think about myself, my relationship with parts of myself, and different aspects of my life. Can y’all relate? Feel free to drop a comment sharing your current theme song or a song that describes the relationship you have with yourself. TTYL!
